NOCCS is a public charter school dedicated to helping children become thoughtful, informed, and inquisitive citizens.
In 2000, a diverse group of parents and educators began meeting in North Oakland to share a dream of starting a new school.
Those founders talked about how they could design a school that respected and nurtured young learners.
They developed NOCCS's 10 Core Principles, which are still at the heart of NOCCS today.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
"NOCCS is a community where the older children are nice to the younger ones even when the teachers and parents are not looking. We feel lucky to be a part of this small, intense, and beautiful school."
– NOCCS PARENT
"We are extremely happy with our experience at NOCCS. Our kindergartener is excited to come to school, has an amazing teacher who understands him well, and has already built a strong group of kind friends. "
