NOCCS is a vibrant, diverse learning community driven by respect for each child's unique intelligence and history. The school's dynamic and challenging educational approach deepens the intellectual and social capacities of each child.

NOCCS is in the Longfellow Neighborhood of Oakland, right on the border with Emeryville.
Studies show that students work better in diverse environments, which enable them to concentrate and push themselves further when there are peers of other backgrounds working alongside them.
Here at NOCCS, diversity isn't just a buzzword. Diversity is at the core of our community, and we know the value it can bring to our students. We work hard to ensure a safe, inclusive, and equitable community for all.
Our economically and racially diverse student body represents the populations of the North Oakland, West Oakland, and Temescal neighborhoods, which our students call home. Fifty-six percent of NOCCS students are eligible for free or reduced lunch.
I love that my child understands Frida Kahlo's whole life story -- her background, struggles, and identity well beyond the art she created.
OUR TEACHERS AND STAFF
Our teachers and staff care deeply about each and every student. NOCCS is a small school where students, staff, and teachers all know each other and develop lasting relationships.
In order to grow “thoughtful, informed, and inquisitive citizens,” we know we've got to work together.
At NOCCS, we work together with you and your child to help shape their experience and help them become thoughtful, informed, and inquisitive citizens both at NOCCS and once they go out into the real world.
