About NOCCS

The North Oakland Community Charter School (NOCCS) is a new public elementary school. We opened our doors in September 2000 as a Kindergarten-First Grade school, and added one grade per year until it became a Kindergarten-Fifth Grade school in 2004-2005. The school is the vision of a group of parents and educators, committed to creating a challenging, rewarding, and inspiring public education for students.

The school's charter is sponsored by the Oakland Unified School District and governed by a board of trustees. (Our current charter is available as a pdf document.)

NOCCS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
